NEWS FROM:

Hewn From The Mountain Music Cafe

Howdy, Neighbors ,

From the one-and-only music shop in Oldham County (...and it's been told that this may be the first one in all of history), welcome!

No Fancy Advertising
It's amazing how many ways there is now to advertise your business! Mailers, flyers, newspaper and radio ads. I used to be in the sign business, and we were always convinced that the best way to advertise a business is . . . no, it was not signs! . . . but Word of Mouth. Location signs take second place in effective advertising. Nowadays, we have a word-of-mouth enhancement called 'Social Networking' using mostly the internet.

Word of Mouth Advertising does not cost much money, if any, but there is a lot of effort put out to make a lot of friends and acquaintances . . . and if you want friends, you have to be 'friend-ly'.
So it is that friendly people succeed!

I want this shop to be a 'Word of Mouth' type of business, so I appreciate every soul who comes through the door and signs my guest list. So please take part in this endeavor, read the newsletters, and 'spread the word'!

Your School Band
I sent an email to some of the school band Directors in Crestwood introducing the shop and offering a discount to their students. If any student comes in the shop with a note from their band teacher, they will receive a 15% discount on anything in the shop any time during the school year. If I get a good response, I will extend this offer to all the Oldham County Schools. I hope they got the emails. If you have recommendations, or if you are a teacher or student in the schools and you did not get this offer, please reply to this email and let me know.

Mountain Dulcimer Making Workshop!
You may know someone who would like to learn how to build a high quality Mountain Lap Dulcimer. We will have a workshop starting in January, 2012. The tuition will be $650 per attendee. They will be coached in every step in crafting a dulcimer of their own from start to finish. I will be giving demonstrations and playing lessons throughout the course. The workshop will meet one evening a week for six or seven weeks, or until the dulcimers are completed.
Give me a 'heads-up' if you know someone who would be interested.
Wouldn't this make a wonderful Christmas gift for a friend!

So When's the Show!
Someone suggested that we do something once a month, and let folks know way ahead of time. Each month we will host a well known performer, and hold a 'living room' social event. We will have the event on Thursday nights, EVERY THIRD WEEK OF THE MONTH starting in November. We will notify you of the details.

Our Hours Again
I want to repeat our current store hours: Wednesday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m., & Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.

We are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Our lesson schedule is way more flexible. We show our hours on the website. Our Holiday Hours will be different. So stay tuned.

Our Website
I want to encourage everyone to sign up with an account on the website. There you will find special things 'for members only' . Check it out: www.hewnfromthemountain.com

Congratulations! Please reply to this newsletter within one week or it will be given to the next person. In your reply please indicate whether you will come to the store to get it, or if you want it mailed to you.

That's it for this week. Don't hesitate to give me a 'holler if there's something on your mind
. . . And don't forget to stop in for some tea. "Have a Cuppa and Jam"
